China Denies Recent Phone Call with US President Trump
China’s Foreign Ministry has denied reports that President Donald Trump and Chinese leader Xi Jinping recently spoke on the phone. This contradicts Trump’s claim that Xi had called him to discuss the ongoing trade war.

No Talks on Tariff Issue
A Chinese spokesperson, Guo Jiakun, stated that there have been no recent phone calls between the two leaders and that China and the US are not engaged in consultations or negotiations on tariffs. China maintains a tough stance on the trade war, despite Trump’s softer tone.

Trump’s Claims
Last week, Trump said in an interview that Xi had called him and that US tariffs on Chinese goods would “come down substantially.” He also promised to be “very nice” at the negotiating table to initiate talks.

China’s Response
However, China’s Foreign Ministry disagrees. Guo Jiakun emphasized that there have been no recent phone calls and no ongoing talks on tariffs. China’s firm stance on trade issues remains unchanged.

Trade War Continues
The trade war between the world’s two largest economies continues, with both sides imposing high tariffs on each other’s goods. The situation remains tense, and it is unclear if and when the two countries will reach an agreement.
