Billie Eilish Sweeps 2025 AMAs; Janet Jackson and Rod Stewart Honored

Billie Eilish dominated the 2025 American Music Awards on Monday night, winning all seven categories she was nominated in, including Artist of the Year, Album of the Year, and Song of the Year. Although she couldn’t attend due to her ongoing tour, her presence was strongly felt.

Beyoncé made history by taking home her first-ever country music honors, winning Favorite Female Country Artist and Favorite Country Album. Kendrick Lamar earned Favorite Hip-Hop Song for “Not Like Us,” while SZA claimed two wins: Favorite R&B Song and Favorite Female R&B Artist.

Janet Jackson was honored with the Icon Award and delivered her first televised performance in seven years, featuring hits like “Someone to Call My Lover” and “All for You.” Accepting the award, Jackson reflected on her family’s journey, saying, “Fame was never our dream, just music, dance, and dedication. Our story is a truly American one.”

Host Jennifer Lopez kicked off the evening with a high-energy dance routine blending tracks by Beyoncé, Billie Eilish, Shaboozey, Chappell Roan, and others.

The Lifetime Achievement Award went to Sir Rod Stewart, who closed the ceremony with a heartfelt rendition of “Forever Young.” The star-studded lineup of performers included Blake Shelton, Gloria Estefan, Lainey Wilson, Benson Boone, Gwen Stefani, and Reneé Rapp.

Held on Memorial Day, this year’s AMAs partnered with the Easy Day Foundation to honor military veterans transitioning to civilian life. A group of veterans attended the live show and were spotlighted throughout the night by Zac Brown and Ciara.
