US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin recently met in Alaska, where they discussed various topics, including the US voting system. Trump claimed that Putin agrees with him that mail-in voting puts honest elections at risk. “Vladimir Putin, smart guy, said you can’t have an honest election with mail-in voting,” Trump stated in an interview with Fox News Channel’s “Hannity”.

Trump has been promoting the idea that mail-in voting leads to dishonest elections, despite having voted by mail himself in previous elections. He’s been pushing for changes to the US voting system, which has been a topic of controversy. Putin, on the other hand, has been Russia’s president or prime minister since 1999 and was recently re-elected with 87% of the vote, although the election drew allegations of vote rigging.

The meeting between Trump and Putin has sparked interest, especially given their discussions on the US voting system. Trump’s claims about mail-in voting have been met with skepticism, and many experts argue that it’s a safe and reliable way to cast votes. As the debate continues, it’s clear that the topic of voting system reform will remain a contentious issue.
