Chicago – November 15, 2025

Former First Lady Michelle Obama recently expressed her belief that the United States is still not prepared for a female president, reflecting on the unsuccessful presidential campaign of former Vice President Kamala Harris last year.

Speaking at a conversation with actress Tracee Ellis Ross in Brooklyn, New York, Obama stated bluntly, “We saw this past, sadly we ain’t ready,” underscoring the persistent societal barriers women face in leadership roles.

Obama emphasized that many men still struggle to accept women in positions of power, a reality highlighted during the recent election cycle. The discussion took place as part of the promotion for her new book, “The Look,” which offers insights into her experiences in the White House.

Despite speculation, Obama has repeatedly ruled out a presidential run herself. Last year, she actively campaigned for Harris, warning against the dangers posed by Donald Trump’s policies, especially those impacting women’s health.

At a Michigan rally, she challenged voters to consider whether the nation was truly ready to embrace a woman in the highest office. The words delivered remain a stark reflection on the country’s readiness for female leadership.
