Chicago – December 27, 2025

A powerful winter storm barreling through the U.S. Northeast and Great Lakes regions has caused widespread holiday travel disruptions, grounding flights and snarling road traffic amid heavy snow and strong winds. Airlines reported thousands of flight delays and cancellations Saturday, affecting major hubs including New York, Boston, Chicago, and Detroit.

The National Weather Service warned of hazardous conditions, including whiteouts and freezing rain, urging travelers to postpone non-essential trips. Power outages were also reported in parts of Pennsylvania and New England as utility crews worked to restore service.

Transportation agencies across affected states deployed snowplows and emergency teams to keep major highways open, though authorities cautioned that travel would remain difficult through the weekend. Meteorologists expect the storm to move toward the Atlantic Coast late Sunday, with lingering snowfall and wind chills extending into early next week.
