President Donald Trump is set to host Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy this Sunday at Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida, as both leaders work toward advancing a potential peace deal to end nearly four years of conflict stemming from Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The meeting comes as Trump spends the holiday period at his private resort, where his schedule has otherwise remained largely devoted to frequent golf outings.
According to Zelenskyy, the discussions will focus on strengthening security partnerships, expanding economic cooperation, and addressing key territorial disputes particularly ongoing tensions surrounding Ukraine’s eastern Donbas region. Despite diplomatic efforts, Kyiv and Moscow remain sharply divided over the region’s future.
In the days leading up to the talks, Russia has stepped up its missile and drone strikes on Kyiv, intensifying military pressure and testing Ukraine’s resilience ahead of negotiations. Responding to the latest wave of attacks, Zelenskyy emphasized on X that Ukraine is determined to pursue every possible path to peace, noting the need for strength and unity at the negotiating table.
“Ukraine will do everything necessary to end this war,” Zelenskyy stated, while also condemning Moscow’s continued aggression. He stressed that with the support of Europe, the United States, and international partners, Ukraine remains confident that collective efforts can stop Russian President Vladimir Putin’s campaign of escalation.
As the high-stakes meeting approaches, global attention remains focused on whether renewed diplomatic engagement can pave the way for meaningful progress toward peace or whether military tensions will continue to overshadow negotiations.
