Chicago – July 01, 2024
After a poor showing at the CNN Presidential Debate in Atlanta on Thursday, many are urging President Joe Biden to step down and let another Democrat run for president. However, Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer is against this idea and supports Biden.
Even though some people want Whitmer to replace Biden, she is currently standing by him. Her supporters call her “Gretch,” but she is not interested in taking Biden’s place.
Whitmer posted on X, formerly Twitter, saying, “If we want to protect our fundamental freedoms and democracy, then we need to re-elect @JoeBiden and @KamalaHarris.” Helen Hare, a spokesperson for Whitmer’s PAC that supports Biden’s re-election, told the Detroit Free Press, “Joe Biden is our nominee and the Governor is proud to support him.”
For now, Governor Whitmer is urging Democrats to stick with Biden and Harris for the 2024 election.
