Congress leader and Raebareli MP Rahul Gandhi will be visiting Manipur on July 8 in response to the ethnic clashes between the Meitei and Kuki communities that began in May last year. This marks his third visit to the northeastern state since the unrest began.
During a press conference in Imphal, Manipur Congress chief K Meghachandra announced that Gandhi would fly from Delhi to Silchar and proceed to Jiribam district, where recent violence occurred on June 6. He plans to visit relief camps in the district before returning to Silchar and flying to Imphal.
During his visit, Gandhi will travel by road from Churachandpur to Moirang in Bishnupur district to visit additional relief camps before returning to Delhi. O Ibobi Singh, Congress legislature party leader in Manipur, highlighted Gandhi’s previous visits to the state to understand the challenges faced by the affected communities.
