Karnataka BJP MP and Dalit leader Ramesh Jigajinagi recently shared his dissatisfaction with his party, stating that most Union Ministers are from upper castes and that Dalits are not given enough importance. Speaking to the media on Tuesday, the Vijayapura MP mentioned that many people warned him against joining the BJP, calling it ‘anti-Dalit.’
“There is no need for me to demand a Union Minister post,” Jigajinagi said when asked about his aspirations for a Cabinet position. “I need the support of the people. But when I returned after the elections, many Dalits criticized me, saying I should have known the BJP is anti-Dalit.” He added, “As a Dalit man, I have won seven elections in South India. All Cabinet positions are held by upper caste individuals. Haven’t Dalits ever supported the BJP? This deeply hurts me.”
