A heated exchange of words has erupted between Israel and Turkey after President Recep Tayyip Erdogan threatened military action against Israel’s war on Gaza.
On Sunday and Monday, officials from both countries exchanged harsh comments. Erdogan, in a Sunday speech, suggested that Turkey could intervene in Gaza, mentioning past military actions in other nations. This comes amid growing fears of the Gaza conflict escalating further.
In response to Erdogan’s comments, Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz posted on X, comparing Erdogan to former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein for threatening Israel. Turkey quickly retaliated, with its Ministry of Foreign Affairs likening Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to Adolf Hitler.
The Turkish Ministry said, “Just as genocidal Hitler ended, so will genocidal Netanyahu. Just as the genocidal Nazis were held accountable, so will those who try to destroy the Palestinians.” They added, “Humanity will stand by the Palestinians. You will not be able to destroy the Palestinians.”
This war of words between Israel and Turkey highlights the rising tensions and fears of further escalation in the Gaza conflict.
