Rahul Gandhi, leader of the opposition in Lok Sabha, highlighted the INDIA bloc’s commitment to supporting farmers by advocating for a legal guarantee on minimum support price (MSP). He commended the Telangana government for launching a significant crop loan waiver scheme worth Rs 6,198 crore, benefiting approximately 6.4 lakh farming families. In a Hindi statement, Gandhi praised the state for fulfilling its manifesto promise to waive loans up to Rs 1.5 lakh for these families.
Drawing a contrast with the BJP, Gandhi accused them of exacerbating farmer debt by neglecting demands for MSP guarantees. He reiterated Congress’s resolve to assist agricultural households nationwide, aiming to alleviate their financial burdens through legislative initiatives. Gandhi emphasized that the INDIA bloc is dedicated to empowering farmers with the necessary tools to break free from economic challenges, mainly through ensuring MSP legal guarantees.
Gandhi’s remarks underscored ongoing political discussions on agricultural reforms and financial relief measures for India’s farming community amid broader policy debates.
