President Joe Biden expressed concerns in a CBS News interview about the possibility of a non-peaceful transfer of power if Donald Trump, the Republican nominee, does not win the upcoming November 5 presidential election. Biden’s worries stem from Trump’s past behavior and statements, including a remark made during a campaign event in Ohio about a potential “bloodbath” if he lost, which Trump later said referred to the U.S. auto industry’s protection against foreign competition.
Furthermore, Trump has previously made baseless claims that he won the 2020 election against Biden and faces legal charges in Washington, D.C., and Georgia for allegedly attempting to illegally overturn those results. These developments have led Biden to doubt the smoothness of the power transition should Trump lose the forthcoming election.
