Sen. J.D. Vance, who is running for vice president alongside former President Donald Trump, visited Arizona for the third time recently. During his visit, he spoke about how immigration issues could be affecting local communities negatively. He shared these thoughts during a discussion with conservative host Charlie Kirk.
Vance criticized Vice President Kamala Harris and her running mate, Gov. Tim Walz of Minnesota, claiming they favored the interests of non-Americans over U.S. citizens and compromised children’s safety. He expressed a desire for a safer environment for kids to grow up in, where they can learn from their mistakes without severe consequences, ideally within their community and church.
While Vance focused on these points, crime data from Arizona shows a mixed picture. Reports indicate an increase in specific crimes like car thefts, but overall, both violent and property crimes have decreased by late 2023.
The issue of safety and immigration continues to be a significant talking point in the election, resonating with many voters.
