Chicago – September 06, 2024
Former Vice President Dick Cheney has joined the growing number of conservatives supporting Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris in the 2024 election. Cheney, who served under President George W. Bush, issued a statement on Friday calling former President Donald Trump the greatest threat to the republic in U.S. history.
Cheney criticized Trump for trying to overturn the 2020 election and said he can never be trusted with power again. Although Cheney was once controversial for his policies and the Iraq War, he has gained some support from Democrats for his stance against Trump.
Cheney’s endorsement of Harris comes after his daughter, Liz Cheney, also announced her support for Harris. Liz Cheney, a former congresswoman, spoke at Duke University, explaining that her decision was driven by the danger Trump poses to the Constitution. Both father and daughter urged Americans to prioritize country over partisanship.
Cheney’s decision to vote for Kamala Harris marks a significant shift in the political landscape, showing how some conservatives are crossing party lines in response to Trump’s actions.
