Chicago – September 14, 2024
Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi spoke out against the Waqf Amendment Bill, 2024 on Wednesday, September 11. He labeled the bill as unfair and not in line with the Constitution. Owaisi shared his concerns through a video, urging people to express their disagreements formally within 15 days by September 13.
Owaisi argued that the bill, introduced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government, aims to take control of waqf properties. These include mosques, religious schools, graveyards, and farms. He emphasized the need for the public to voice their objections in large numbers quickly.
To help people submit their objections, Owaisi mentioned that the All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) has provided a QR code. People can scan this code to send their objections directly through email. He encouraged everyone to act swiftly, especially before the upcoming Friday prayers on September 13, where the QR code will be available in mosques and local lawmakers will meet with the public.
