The United States is increasing its troop presence in the Middle East amid growing tensions. Major General Pat Ryder announced that a few more U.S. military personnel would be joining the 40,000 already stationed in the region.
This decision follows recent intense Israeli airstrikes in Lebanon, which resulted in significant casualties and damage. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has emphasized that Israel’s conflict is specifically with Hezbollah, not the Lebanese people.
He accused Hezbollah of endangering civilians by hiding military assets in residential areas. Netanyahu urged the people of Lebanon to evacuate to safer areas to avoid harm during military operations.
His statements came as Israeli forces continued to target Hezbollah in Lebanon. Meanwhile, Israel has declared a special emergency status that allows its military more control, including restricting gatherings and modifying public routines to ensure safety.
