President Biden has stated that he does not support Israel attacking Iranian nuclear sites despite recent tensions. This announcement came after Iran fired 181 missiles at Israel, sparking concerns of a potential major conflict in the region.
The attack occurred a day before Biden’s statement, following a promise from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that Iran would face consequences.
Speaking to reporters before boarding Air Force One, President Biden shared insights from a recent discussion with leaders from France, Canada, Japan, Britain, Italy, and Germany.
They collectively agreed that Israel has the right to defend itself and respond to Iran’s actions. However, they emphasized that any response from Israel should be proportional.
President Biden clarified his stance against supporting an attack on Iranian nuclear facilities, a strategy Israel has previously considered.
He also mentioned that additional sanctions against Iran are planned and would speak with Prime Minister Netanyahu soon to discuss the situation further.
