Chicago – October 09, 2024
Former President Donald Trump, a Republican, announced on Wednesday that he would not participate in a second debate against Vice President Kamala Harris.
This decision came just after Fox News invited them to debate again on October 24 or 27. The two had their first debate on September 10. Trump, rejecting this new invitation and a previous one from CNN for an October 23 debate, stated on his Truth Social platform, “THERE WILL BE NO REMATCH. SO THERE IS NOTHING TO DEBATE.”
He mentioned that it’s too late in the election process for another debate. The first debate saw Harris challenging Trump on various issues, which has led to a tighter race, according to recent polls.
Trump had initially gained a lead over then-candidate Joe Biden, but Harris’s entry into the race has made it more competitive, with some polls showing her slightly ahead.
