Vice President Kamala Harris was overheard during a conversation with Governor Gretchen Whitmer of Michigan, revealing concerns about her campaign’s struggle to connect with male voters.
The discussion, which was unintentionally captured by a microphone, happened as Harris and Whitmer were sitting together at a bar.
Harris mentioned the need to make progress with male voters just before noticing a nearby camera and realizing their conversation was being recorded. She commented on the presence of microphones capturing everything, expressing her surprise.
This slip comes at a critical time as Harris heads the Democratic Party’s ticket for the 2024 presidential election after President Joe Biden stepped aside.
Despite various efforts to improve her standing among male voters, polls continue to show she is not doing well with this group. In an attempt to address this, Vice Presidential nominee Governor Tim Walz of Minnesota joined a pheasant hunt and a Twitch stream with Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York.
Additionally, former President Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama have been actively campaigning, sometimes speaking directly to male audiences, to bolster Harris’s appeal. However, their direct approach might not be as effective as hoped.
