Indira Gandhi was tragically killed by her bodyguards on this date in 1984. Born November 19, 1917, she was a powerful figure in India’s history. Rahul Gandhi and other party members laid flowers at her memorials at Shakti Sthal and 1 Safdarjung Road.
Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge also celebrated her contributions, praising her relentless service to India until her last moments.
He emphasized that she was vital in keeping India united and making it strong and progressive through effective leadership.
In a message on the social media X, Rahul Gandhi recalled her fondly with various affectionate titles.
Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Indira Gandhi’s granddaughter and a key Congress figure, also remembered her, saying her dedication and sacrifice have taught valuable lessons that continue to guide them.
