Chicago – November 07, 2024
With his upcoming return to the White House, Donald Trump will want to install a completely different government than the one led by Joe Biden. Additionally, his team is promising that the second one won’t resemble the first one that Trump set up following his victory in 2016.
Prior to Inauguration Day on January 20, the president-elect now has a 75-day transition period to assemble his team. Filling over 4,000 government jobs with political appointees—people Trump’s team actively selects for their positions—is one of the top priorities on the to-do list.
Trump will know what he needs to do, even if the incoming administration will have a complete turnover. For his first term, he created a completely new administration, and he knows exactly what he wants to accomplish differently this time.
He’s already floated some names.
At his victory party early on Wednesday, Trump declared that “we’re going to let him go to it” and that Robert Kennedy Jr., an anti-vaccination activist and former presidential candidate, would be called upon to “help make America healthy again.” Trump did not deny Kennedy’s calls to stop fluoridating water prior to the election. Elon Musk, a strong Trump campaign supporter who was born in South Africa, has also stated that he can find billions of dollars in government spending to eliminate, and Trump has promised to appoint Musk as secretary of federal “cost-cutting.”
The transition is not just about filling jobs. Most presidents-elect also receive daily or near-daily intelligence briefings during the transition.
