It was intended to be a cordial opportunity for Kamala Harris to explain herself to Americans who were not familiar with her narrative when she made an appearance on ABC’s “The View” last month. Instead, the Democratic presidential candidate found it difficult to articulate how she would differ from Joe Biden.Harris, the current vice president, told the hosts, “I can’t think of anything.”
In order to address America’s concerns about rising expenses and housing affordability, Harris positioned herself as a “new generation of leadership” and the forward-thinking candidate who would work across the aisle and seek solutions rather than partisan conflict. However, Harris never matched the description of a conventional “change candidate” because she was the vice president at the time, and she stuck with Biden despite the fact that Americans made it apparent they didn’t like the way he handled inflation and migration at the southern border.
In the end, the election wasn’t a nail-biter like many expected. It was a resounding victory for Trump and a rejection of Harris and the Democratic Party as Republicans also gained control of the U.S. Senate.
