Former Chief Minister and Congress leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda criticized the current BJP government in Haryana for failing to meet the needs of farmers. During a press conference in Rohtak, he highlighted the government’s inability to supply enough fertilizers and to secure minimum support prices (MSP) for crops.
Hooda noted that less than half of the needed DAP fertilizer has been distributed to districts and is alarmingly being handed out at police stations.
Additionally, Hooda pointed out that the selling price of paddy is significantly lower than the MSP, by about Rs 300-400. These agricultural issues, he asserted, will be a major focus for the Congress in the upcoming Assembly session.
He accused the BJP of being unable to manage fertilizer distribution effectively over the last decade and emphasized that these shortcomings prove the government’s claims to be unfounded. Hooda also questioned the Agriculture Minister’s assurances that there is no fertilizer shortage, citing the long queues and inconvenient distribution points as evidence to the contrary.
