Chicago – November 13, 2024
Republicans have won control of both the House and Senate, giving the GOP full control of Congress for the next two years and opening a clear path for President-elect Donald Trump’s plans.
The GOP secured a majority in the 435-member House after successfully defending key seats in competitive areas like New York and California. Although these districts seemed uncertain before Election Day, Republicans managed to hold onto them, according to reports from multiple networks.
Additionally, the GOP gained control of the Senate by winning important races, defeating Democratic senators in Montana and Ohio, and securing other close contests.
With this victory, Republicans now hold a “trifecta” in Washington, positioning them to pass legislation without major opposition.
Over the next two years, Trump and Congress are expected to tackle significant policy issues, including continued U.S. involvement in conflicts in the Middle East and Ukraine, possible changes to the 2017 tax policies from Trump’s first term, and funding the government for future budgets.
