Republican Representative Juan Ciscomani has secured reelection to the U.S. House from southeastern Arizona, once again defeating Democrat Kirsten Engel. This victory marks his second win against Engel, having first claimed the seat in 2022 by a margin of over 5,200 votes.
The race took place in Arizona’s 6th Congressional District, which includes areas from Tucson extending east to the New Mexico border and a portion of the Arizona-Mexico border.
Ciscomani’s recent triumph contributes significantly to the Republican Party’s overall success, as they now hold enough seats to control the U.S. House. This win is part of a broader Republican sweep, placing them in a strong position in the U.S. government alongside President-elect Donald Trump.
The 6th District, known for its closely balanced voter registration among Democrats, Republicans, and independents, leans slightly in favor of the GOP.
Following Ciscomani’s reelection, the composition of Arizona’s House delegation remains unchanged, consisting of six Republicans and three Democrats. This result maintains the political landscape in Arizona and reinforces the Republican presence in the state.
