Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra is on track to claim her first-ever electoral victory in the Wayanad Lok Sabha by-election in Kerala. As of Saturday, she has established an impressive lead of over 3.5 lakh votes against her nearest rival from the Communist Party of India (CPI), according to the Election Commission.
Priyanka, representing the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF), gained a significant advantage within just four hours of vote counting. The massive lead signals a historic win for Priyanka and her party, with allies and supporters celebrating the results.
Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) leader Panakkad Sadiq Ali Shihab Thangal predicted that Priyanka would surpass the vote count and majority achieved by her brother, Rahul Gandhi, in previous elections. Telangana Congress Chief A. Revanth Reddy also expressed confidence, stating Priyanka’s victory would set new records in Wayanad.
Reddy celebrated the early trends, calling it a “grand debut” for Priyanka in Parliament. “People of Wayanad are ensuring a historic win for our leader,” he said in a post on social media platform ‘X’.
