In a recent announcement, Telangana’s Chief Minister, A Revanth Reddy, declared that his government will not accept a Rs 100 crore donation that was pledged by the Adani Foundation to the Young India Skills University. This decision comes as a response to allegations against Gautam Adani in the United States. He is accused of bribing Indian officials to secure profitable solar energy contracts.
A letter from Jayesh Ranjan, the Special Chief Secretary and Commissioner for Industrial Promotion, Industries and Commerce department, addressed to Dr. Priti Adani, highlights that the university has not requested the transfer of funds from donors yet due to the lack of a tax exemption.
Although the university recently obtained this exemption, the Chief Minister has directed not to proceed with accepting the funds due to the ongoing controversies.
This issue is unfolding while there is also a political debate in the neighboring state of Andhra Pradesh. There, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu informed the Legislative Assembly about having indictment reports. He promised to take action if any misconduct is discovered. The discussion also touched on allegations against the previous YSRCP government led by Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, which, according to Naidu, has damaged the reputation of Andhra Pradesh.
Chief Minister Naidu expressed his concern over the damage to the state’s prestige, emphasizing the impact of these allegations on the region’s image.
