As Donald Trump prepares to become the 47th President of the United States this January, Indian students and workers in the US are feeling worried. Top American universities are advising international students to come back to the US before Trump’s inauguration on January 20.
They’re concerned about possible new travel restrictions, similar to those from Trump’s first time as president in 2017. Back then, his orders temporarily stopped people from seven mainly Muslim countries from entering the US, which caused a lot of trouble.
Many universities, like Yale, are trying to help their international students by holding webinars to talk about these issues and reassure them. They want to make sure students from other countries feel safe and keep studying in the US.
Even though India’s government hasn’t given a specific warning yet, they’re telling Indian people in the US to stay informed about any new travel rules. The US is a very popular place for Indian students to go to college. In fact, more students from India are going to American colleges than from any other country. Last year, there were 331,602 Indian students in the US, which is a lot more than the year before.
These students are an important part of the colleges they attend in the US. So, universities are trying to make sure that these students can continue their education without any problems, even with the possibility of new rules from President Trump.
