Tom Homan, the incoming Border Czar, met with New York City Mayor Eric Adams on Thursday to discuss the city’s ongoing migrant crisis and ways to deport illegal immigrants. Homan, who was the acting director of ICE during President Donald Trump’s first term, has been appointed to this new role by the soon-to-be president-elect.
During their closed-door meeting in New York, Homan praised Mayor Adams for his focus on public safety and his willingness to put politics aside. Homan said, “He really cares about public safety” and wants to help ICE remove dangerous criminals from the streets. The two leaders also discussed efforts to locate more than 340,000 missing children, many of whom are believed to be in the city.
Homan commended Adams for his openness to using executive orders to address obstacles New York City faces, especially when it comes to dealing with criminal aliens. The mayor has also expressed support for sending dangerous individuals back to jail rather than allowing them to be released into the community.
Homan shared that other leaders from both political parties have reached out to him since the meeting. He expressed confidence that with the mayor’s help, New York City will become safer. He concluded, “The city is about to get a lot safer,” referring to the increased collaboration between local law enforcement and ICE.
