A recent House Ethics Committee report has revealed disturbing allegations against former Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla. The 37-page report claims that Gaetz paid multiple women for sex, including a 17-year-old high school girl, and used illicit drugs like cocaine and ecstasy ¹.
The report states that Gaetz violated multiple Florida state laws related to sexual misconduct while in office. It also alleges that he made tens of thousands of dollars in payments to women, likely in connection with sexual activity and/or drug use, from 2017 to 2020.
The 17-year-old girl claimed to have received $400 in cash from Gaetz, which she understood to be payment for sex. She also alleged that she saw Gaetz use cocaine during their encounter.
The committee obtained text messages allegedly sent by Gaetz to women, asking them to bring drugs to their meetings. He referred to the drugs as “party favors,” “rolls,” or “vitamins.”
Gaetz has consistently denied any wrongdoing, and an earlier federal investigation into the allegations ended without charges. However, the House Ethics Committee’s report paints a damning picture of Gaetz’s behavior.
In response to the report, Gaetz filed a lawsuit to block its release, claiming it contained “potentially defamatory allegations.” Despite his denials, the report’s allegations have raised serious questions about Gaetz’s conduct while in office.
