OMAR Abdullah, chairman of the National Conference (NC) party, Son of Dr. Farooq Abdullah, was sworn in as chief minister of India-held Kashmir on October 17, 2024. This will be his second stint at the CM of the territory, having previously served in this capacity from 2009 to 2014.
He is the grandson of Sheikh Abdullah and the son of Farooq Abdullah, both of whom were also former chief ministers of held-Jammu and Kashmir.
On Republic Day, the leader vowed to reinstate the statehood of Kashmir and call for abrogation of article 370, making Kashmir an autonomous state once again.
