As per latest reports, food safety officials recently inspected 140-year-old Nizam Club of Hyderabad and discovered that the owners have been running the food business without a valid FSSAI license. Also, some of the documents of the clubs were found missing, which included Medical Fitness Certificates for its food handlers, Pest Control Records for the premises and the Water Analysis Report for the RO water used for food preparation.
It has been reported that the team of officials noted several hygiene lapses in the kitchen , such as live cockroach infestation, water seepage from the ceiling above the grinding area, broken refrigerator doors, rusted joints, clogged drains and water stagnation.
It was also noted that many food items were stored without any labelling, beetle infestation in wheat flour and urad dal kept in the store room was also found faulty. The FBO [Food Business Operator] admitted to using synthetic food colours (which were found in the kitchen) while making Chinese dishes. It was also noted that they were using cosmetic rose water in food preparation.
The Commissioner of Food Safety also inspected The Fateh Maidan Club in LB Stadium, Abids. As per the X post, they didn’t have FSSAI license true copy on the display and at the prominent location. Food handlers inside the kitchen were found without haircaps, aprons & gloves. Medical Fitness Certificates for food handlers & Water Analysis Report for RO water used for food preparation were not available with the FBO. Also, windows were found open without insect proof screens to avoid entry of pests. Even the walls were found to be greasy and the floor was found uneven with broken tiles at a few points. Semi prepared food articles stored inside the refrigerator were not covered and not labelled properly and even the dustbins were found open without proper lids on them.
Investigation is under way and the club has been sealed for now.
