The Tamil Section of the Department of Modern Indian Languages (MIL), Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), successfully concluded a three-day induction course for PhD scholars from September 18-20, 2024. The course featured nine sessions, covering a wide range of topics, including research fundamentals, the vision and mission of Sir Syed Ahmad Khan, the National Education Policy (NEP) and regional languages, research ethics, and the significance of comparative and cultural studies, along with translation and library resources.
Lectures were delivered by faculty members, including Prof. Naushad Ali from the Department of Library and Information Science, Dr. Adiba Faiyaz from the Department of English, and Senior Research Fellows Ms. Anam Jamal Ansari and Mr. Mohammad Haris.
PhD scholars from diverse linguistic backgrounds, including Bengali, Malayalam, Marathi, Punjabi, and Tamil, actively participated in the course and in feedback session.
In the valedictory address, Professor TN Satheesan, Chairperson of the Department of Modern Indian Languages, provided valuable research guidelines and congratulated the scholars.
Dr. R. Tamilselvan, the course organiser, presented the welcome address and course report, while Mr. Rafsal Babu C.V., Assistant Professor of Malayalam, delivered the vote of thanks. Certificates of completion were awarded to all participants.
