A recent report by the United States Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) has sparked controversy, accusing India’s intelligence agency, the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), of targeting minorities, including Muslims, both within and outside India.
The USCIRF’s annual report highlights concerns about the deteriorating state of religious freedom in India, citing incidents of violence, discrimination, and alleged extrajudicial actions against minorities ¹. The report also calls for sanctions against Indian officials and entities, including RAW, for their alleged involvement in suppressing dissent and targeting Sikh separatists abroad.
According to the USCIRF, hateful rhetoric and disinformation have fueled attacks on religious minorities, including vigilante violence and destruction of property. However, India’s government has strongly denied these allegations, calling the report biased and politically motivated.
