A US appeals court made a big decision on Friday, ruling that most of President Donald Trump’s tariffs are actually illegal. This is a major blow to Trump’s economic policy, which has relied heavily on tariffs to pressure other countries into making trade deals. The court said that Trump’s tariffs can stay in place until October 14, giving his administration time to appeal to the US Supreme Court.

Trump has been using tariffs as a key tool in his foreign policy since his second term began. He’s imposed tariffs on many countries that export goods to the US, which has given him leverage to negotiate better trade deals. However, these tariffs have also caused volatility in financial markets and have been criticized by many experts.

Trump isn’t happy about the court’s decision, calling it “highly partisan.” He posted on Truth Social that getting rid of the tariffs would be “a total disaster for the Country.” Despite this, Trump is optimistic that the Supreme Court will eventually rule in his favor, allowing him to continue using tariffs as a key part of his economic policy.
