Espionage Allegations: Key Figures Involved
Several individuals in Pakistan have been linked to espionage activities with Indian nationals. One notable figure is Rana Muhammad Qasim Zia, a Pakistani High Commission official accused of receiving secret documents from Indian operatives. Additionally, Pakistani intelligence operatives have reportedly used social media and financial incentives to recruit spies within India.

Recent Arrests and Investigations
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested multiple individuals suspected of espionage, including:

  • Moti Ram Jat: A CRPF Assistant Sub-Inspector accused of sharing sensitive information with Pakistan intelligence officers for monetary benefits. He was dismissed from service and remanded in NIA custody till June 6.
  • Jyoti Malhotra: A travel vlogger and YouTuber from Haryana accused of leaking sensitive information to a Pakistani handler. Her finances are being probed due to her lavish lifestyle, which seemed inconsistent with her known income sources.
  • Shakoor Khan: A government clerk from Jaisalmer detained for suspected espionage links with Pakistan. He allegedly visited Pakistan multiple times without clearance and had Pakistani phone numbers on his device.

Consequences and Accountability
The espionage allegations have raised concerns about national security, particularly in light of the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, which resulted in significant casualties. Indian authorities are working to dismantle espionage networks and ensure justice for those affected. The Delhi High Court has denied bail to accused spies, citing national security concerns.
