Egypt has strongly rejected descriptions of Palestinian displacement in Gaza as voluntary, calling such claims “nonsense.” Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty stated this on September 5, 2025, in response to Israeli military orders for Gaza City residents to evacuate south ahead of a planned offensive.
Abdelatty emphasized that displacement is not a choice but a forced situation, describing ongoing conditions in Gaza as a manmade famine aimed at pushing Palestinians from their homes.
Egypt has repeatedly warned against the mass displacement of Palestinians, labeling it a red line and a threat to regional security. The Egyptian government has condemned attempts at forcibly uprooting Palestinians as violations of international humanitarian law and war crimes. Abdelatty underscored that displacement would mean the annihilation of the Palestinian cause, with no legal, moral, or ethical justification.
While Egypt collaborates with the US and Qatar on ceasefire negotiations, it maintains firm opposition to any forced displacement or exile of Palestinians, vowing not to participate in or facilitate such actions. This stance comes amid heightened Israeli military operations in Gaza, which Israel defends as necessary self-defense measures.
Egypt stands by a two-state solution and calls for safeguarding Palestinian rights and territory, rejecting any plans that would uproot Palestinians from their homeland
