President-elect Donald Trump has appointed billionaire Elon Musk and former GOP presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy to spearhead the Department of Government Efficiency.
Their main objectives will be to cut down on unnecessary government spending, reduce excessive regulations, and reorganize federal agencies. Trump stated that Musk and Ramaswamy will collaborate with the White House and the Office of Management & Budget to implement significant reforms and introduce an innovative, entrepreneurial spirit to the functioning of the government.
Trump emphasized that their efforts will focus on eliminating the widespread waste and fraud in the government’s annual expenditure of $6.5 trillion. The president-elect expressed his confidence that this team will streamline the government, making it more accountable to the American public.
He added that by July 4, 2026, which marks the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, the smaller, more efficient government would be a fitting tribute to the nation. Trump concluded with high expectations for their success in these reforms.
