Pakistan Downs 77 Indian Drones in Response to Airspace Violations
In a sharp response to Indian drone incursions, the Pakistan Armed Forces have successfully shot down 77 Israeli-made drones allegedly sent by India. .Security sources report that 29 drones were intercepted by last evening, followed by an additional 48 drones destroyed since then. The Pakistan Army continues to deliver a strong and coordinated response to what it describes as Indian aggression.
ISPR Continuous Surveillance and Defense Protocols in Place
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Pakistan’s air defense systems are actively tracking Indian drones, including smaller unmanned aerial vehicles. Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, Director General of ISPR, stated that all unauthorized drone entries into Pakistani airspace are monitored in real time through radar, and that there are standing operational procedures to neutralize them, especially in civilian zones or near commercial air routes.
US Urges Restraint Amid Rising Tensions
U.S. Vice President JD Vance emphasized America’s neutral stance in the escalating conflict, calling for restraint from both sides. Speaking on Fox News’ The Story with Martha MacCallum, Vance said, “We want this thing to de-escalate as quickly as possible. We’re not going to get involved in a war that’s fundamentally none of our business.” He added that the U.S. could only encourage both Pakistan and India to show caution.
Pakistan to Target Military, Not Civilians, Says Defence Minister
Pakistani Defence Minister Khawaja Asif made it clear that any retaliatory strikes would focus solely on Indian military targets, not civilians. In an interview with a UK-based news agency, Asif condemned India’s alleged strikes on civilian areas as “cowardly” and said the conflict had reached a critical point with little room for easing tensions. Asif highlighted the swift response from the Pakistan Air Force, claiming five Indian jets were downed and criticizing the capabilities of Indian Rafale jet pilots. He added that even the manufacturer of the Rafale jets had faced reputational damage due to pilot underperformance.
Information Minister Claims 50 Indian Soldiers Killed at LoC
In a statement to the National Assembly, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar claimed that the Pakistan Army had eliminated at least 50 Indian soldiers along the Line of Control (LoC). Tarar accused India of launching a surprise attack under the cover of darkness and said the country was embarrassed by the poor outcome of its actions, despite prior boasts about its advanced Rafale aircraft.
