Chicago – September 11, 2025

Conservative activist and prominent Trump ally Charlie Kirk has been shot and killed during a public event at Utah Valley University, with the shooter still at large as of Thursday evening. Kirk, 31, was addressing an audience of more than 3,000 attendees at his organization’s “American Comeback Tour” when a single fatal shot struck him in the neck, triggering chaos and panic on campus.

Authorities report that the gunman, dressed in dark clothing, fired from a significant distance, possibly from a rooftop. A “high-powered” rifle was later recovered from nearby woods, but no arrests have been made so far. Security footage is being reviewed, and a manhunt involving local and federal agents remains underway.

The incident has been widely condemned across political lines, with Utah Governor Spencer Cox labeling it a “political assassination”. Former President Trump expressed condolences to Kirk’s family, emphasizing Kirk’s significant influence among young conservatives. Classes at the university remain canceled during the ongoing investigation
