Chicago – January 29, 2026

Türkiye’s Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has called on the United States to restart nuclear negotiations with Iran, warning that military action would be a serious mistake. His remarks come as US warships arrive in the Middle East, raising speculation about potential strikes linked to Tehran’s ongoing protest crackdown.

In an interview Fidan said Washington should prioritize diplomacy instead of escalation.“It’s Wrong to Attack Iran,” Says Fidan

Fidan strongly criticized the idea of launching attacks against Iran, stressing that renewed conflict would only worsen instability in the region.
“It’s wrong to attack Iran. It’s wrong to start the war again. Iran is ready to negotiate on the nuclear file again,” he said during the English-language interview.

Türkiye Advises US to Resolve Issues Step by Step

The Turkish foreign minister urged US officials to take a structured approach in dealing with Tehran beginning with the nuclear program before moving to other disputes.
“My advice has always been to our American friends close the files one by one with the Iranians. Start with the nuclear issue and close it. Then move on to the others,” Fidan stated.
