Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy strongly criticized Russian President Vladimir Putin for launching attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure on Christmas Day. Zelenskyy called the attacks “inhumane” but vowed that they would not ruin Christmas for Ukrainians.
According to reports, Russia launched over 70 missiles and more than 100 attack drones, targeting Ukraine’s energy facilities. The Russian Defence Ministry confirmed the attacks, stating that they aimed to disrupt Ukraine’s “military-industrial complex.”
Despite the attacks, Zelenskyy remained defiant, saying that “Russian evil will not break Ukraine and will not spoil Christmas.” The Ukrainian air force reported that the strikes involved 78 air, ground, and sea-launched missiles, as well as 106 drones.
The ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia has sparked debate in the United States over whether to continue providing aid to Ukraine. President-elect Trump has called for a cease-fire and negotiations. The U.S. has already provided billions of dollars in aid to Ukraine since the conflict began in 2022.
