Chicago – May 14, 2025

A 21-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday after a fire was set at the private London home of UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer. The fire, which happened early on Monday, caused damage to the door of the house where Starmer and his family lived before he became Prime Minister. The Metropolitan Police arrested the suspect on suspicion of arson, meaning setting the fire on purpose with the intent to harm people.

The police are treating the fire as serious because of the house’s connection to a well-known public figure. They are investigating what caused the fire and have said that officers from the Counter Terrorism Command are in charge of the investigation. The arrest may also be related to two other fires: a car fire near Starmer’s home on Sunday and a fire at another property linked to him on May 8. Thankfully, no one was hurt in any of the fires.

Starmer and his family do not live in the private house right now, as he has been living in the official Downing Street residence since becoming Prime Minister in July. One of Starmer’s neighbors, Charles Grant, said that police searched his yard on Monday, looking for a possible weapon, like a projectile.
