US President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump will face off tonight in the first televised debate of the 2024 election. The CNN Presidential Debate starts at 9:00 PM US time on CNN.
This debate is a big deal as it’s the first time in almost four years that both candidates will meet to win over voters for the November 5th election. To keep things orderly, microphones will be muted when it’s not a candidate’s turn to speak to avoid interruptions.
In a coin flip, it was decided that Trump will have the final statement in the 90-minute debate, and Biden will stand on the right side of the stage. This is the second time Biden, a Democrat, and Trump, a Republican, will compete for the White House after Trump lost in 2020.
The debate takes place in Atlanta, Georgia, a crucial battleground state. Biden narrowly won Georgia in 2020 by fewer than 13,000 votes.
