At a recent Group of 20 (G20) summit in Brazil, President Joe Biden and other key leaders missed a crucial photo opportunity. The incident occurred when summit organizers took the group photo earlier than scheduled, causing Biden and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to arrive just as the photo session was ending. Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni was also absent from the photo, where Chinese President Xi Jinping was notably positioned at the forefront.
A senior official from the Biden administration explained that the photo was taken prematurely due to logistical issues. This missed photo happened after a meeting focused on addressing global hunger and poverty, where President Biden announced a commitment of $4 billion to aid developing countries.
This G20 summit in Rio de Janeiro marks President Biden’s last as the U.S. president and forms part of his two-country tour, which also included a stop at a summit for Pacific Rim nations in Lima, Peru. At that earlier summit, Biden was placed at the back and towards the side of the official photo, which was organized alphabetically by country.
