Chicago – October 31, 2024
Nearly two weeks after their son was tragically killed in Mexico, the family of Nicholas Douglas Quets, a 31-year-old Marine veteran, has not received any communication from President Biden or Vice President Kamala Harris.
Nicholas, who was involved in water reclamation projects in Pima County, Arizona, was shot on the Caborca-Altar Highway in northern Mexico on October 19.
Nicholas, who grew up in Latin America and had a passion for the outdoors, was on his way to Rocky Point for a beach trip with friends when he was murdered approximately 30 miles south of the U.S.-Mexico border.
The Quets family has had political engagements following the incident. They were able to meet with former President Donald Trump and GOP vice presidential candidate Senator JD Vance, both of whom sought permission to mention Nicholas in public.
However, attempts to meet with Democratic vice presidential candidate Governor Tim Walz were unsuccessful due to full capacity at his event in Phoenix. Vice President Harris is also scheduled to be in Phoenix for an event on Thursday.
