Chicago – May 10, 2025

As tensions between India and Pakistan escalated following the recent military confrontations, the role of celebrities in shaping public sentiment has come under scrutiny. While Indian public figures, especially Bollywood stars, have been seen fueling animosity, their Pakistani counterparts have largely advocated for peace and condemned the human cost of conflict.

A particularly disturbing example comes from Indian actress and newly elected MP Kangana Ranaut, who unleashed a barrage of hateful rhetoric against Pakistanis. In her inflammatory statement, Kangana labeled Pakistan as a “terrorist country,” going so far as to call Pakistani citizens “bloody cockroaches” and demanding that the nation be “wiped off the world map”-language that is not only dehumanizing but also dangerously incites further hatred and violence. Such remarks have sparked outrage across the globe, with many questioning the ethics and humanity behind such statements.

Pakistani actress Hira Mani responded powerfully, defending her country and its people. In her social media post, she asserted that Kangana’s tears would not stop the resilience of Pakistanis, and she poetically praised the strength and unity of Pakistan’s armed forces. Hira Mani’s reply was not just a rebuttal but a call for dignity and resistance in the face of hate, reflecting the broader attitude of Pakistani celebrities who, even in times of national crisis, urge for peace and restraint.

Unlike many Indian celebrities who celebrated military actions without acknowledging civilian casualties, Pakistani stars such as Maya Ali, Hania Aamir, and Osman Khalid Butt have used their platforms to mourn the loss of innocent lives and emphasize the need for dialogue over destruction. Their messages highlight a stark contrast: while Indian stars stoke division, Pakistani celebrities remind the world of the value of peace and humanity.

This difference in approach underscores the maturity and responsibility shown by Pakistan’s entertainment industry, standing as a beacon of hope and advocating for peace even amidst provocation and tragedy.
