Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant has been on a mission in the United States to gain bipartisan support for Israel as tensions with Hezbollah in Lebanon rise. Before his trip on Saturday, Gallant emphasized the crucial nature of US-Israel relations. He met with US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin and other officials, stressing the strong alliance between the two nations and the need to unite against threats from Iran and its allies.
A significant topic on Gallant’s agenda was a shipment of heavy bombs weighing 2,000 pounds and 500 pounds, which the Biden administration halted in May.
This pause was a protest against the potential use of these bombs in Gaza, where Israeli actions, supported by the US, have resulted in over 37,500 deaths. The US and Israel, despite their alliance, have some disagreements at the moment.
