Chicago – August 18, 2024
Vice President Kamala Harris is expected to join President Joe Biden on stage at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago on Monday. Sources revealed that Biden, who stepped down from seeking re-election a month ago under pressure from fellow Democrats, will deliver a key speech to support Harris as the party’s candidate in the upcoming November 5 presidential election. The speech will also focus on defeating Republican candidate former President Donald Trump.
Two sources familiar with the planning said there had been discussions about having Biden and Harris appear together on stage during the event, which is likely to happen. Harris might also speak before Biden at the convention. Harris, 59, has been campaigning and will arrive in Chicago after a bus tour in Pennsylvania.
She will remain in Chicago for much of the convention, with a brief trip to Milwaukee for a campaign event on Tuesday, before returning to hear her husband, Doug Emhoff, speak that night.
