Kamala Harris has gained support for her presidential campaign from a key U.S. Muslim group, the Black Muslim Leadership Council. This group did not endorse Joe Biden in his last campaign. Many people who didn’t vote for Biden did so because they were unhappy with his actions regarding the conflict in Gaza. Now, they see Harris as a better choice.
The Black Muslim Leadership Council started in March to encourage the Biden administration to seek a permanent peace in Gaza. Salima Suswell, the leader of this group, mentioned on NBC that Harris cares more about the people in Gaza compared to President Biden and former President Donald Trump.
Harris’s campaign expressed gratitude for the support from this group. Even though Muslim Americans are a small part of all voters, they are very important in key states with lots of voters. Harris has consistently supported a ceasefire in Gaza and believes in a two-state solution to bring lasting peace to the Middle East.
